Open Thread: Spurs Mural Tour- Rudy’s Seafood (part 1, the legends)

The Mecca of Spurs murals wrap around this unobtrusive restaurant

If you are in San Antonio and have yet to visit Rudy’s Seafood at 4122 S Flores St., put it on your list. It should serve as a requirement for any out-of-towner coming to San Antonio specifically to see a Spurs game. The shrimp tacos are killer. The inside of the restuarant is decked out with Spurs and Dallas Cowboy paraphernalia, neon signs, and posters.

But the outside is all killer Spurs mural artwork by Nik Soups. There are so many murals at the restaurant, that we had to break this stop into two parts.

Part 1- The Spurs legends

The Admiral, David Robinson #50 in the southeast corner of the restaurant.

The iconic Spurs logo.

Big Fun!

Elizabeth Duarte

The only active player featured at Rudy’s who is NOT still in a Spurs jersey- #9 Tony Parker.

The next Spur to have his number retired. Manu Ginobili will be celebrated on March 28 as the Spurs host the Cavaliers.

No championship would be complete or possible, without head coach Gregg Popovich.

This trip started my daughter’s facination with The Iceman, George Gervin. More on that over the Christmas break.

All murals by Nik Soupe through Los Otros Murals.

Tomorrow, Part 2- The Active Spurs.
