Open Thread: Spurs Mural Stop #4- Phillips 66

My daughter and I discover a tattoo artist’s mark while taking an east side drive

This weeks stop on the Spurs Mural tour of San Antonio took my daughter and I to the Phillips 66 station on E. Houston Street.

Depending on your route to the AT&T Center, there’s a chance you’ll pass this wall.

The photo not only includes the Big 3, there are four championship trophies (the number won by the trio together). There is also a masked wrestler over a cursive Los Spurs.

The work, by local artists “Criket,” also does amazing tattoo work under the name Arte Loko Kustoms.

Finally, a message to the fans of San Antonio.

Stop by for a cold drink or gas up at Phillips 66 gas station 2758 E. Houston St. Walk around the corner of the building to the side that faces Houston (the Phillips actually faces the cross street at Mel Walters Way). Head east two more blocks and you’ll be at the AT&T Center ready to cheer on our Spurs, as Criket says “win or lose!!!”

I hope you’re enjoying the Mural Tour. If you know of a mural, please pass it on. There are currently ten on our list, but we are willing to take this trip as far as it will go.
