Doubters beware.

The season may be on hiatus, but in our Pretend Power Rankings, the Spurs are picking up ground on this final stretch toward the postseason.

I’ve also seen some tweets sharing outcomes to games that were unable to be played. Pounders are certainly taking the opportunity with the break in action to gaze longingly into the looking glass.

And it isn’t just the fans that are getting in the action. Jeff Garcia reports that Rudy Gay has decisively predicted that were the season not halted, the San Antonio Spurs were due for a comeback.

“I knew we were going to go on one of those streaks where it would happen, and we would be there, I always felt, the whole time.”- Rudy Gay

The Spurs historic twenty-two consecutive postseason run was in jeopardy when the coronavirus abruptly halted the NBA season, and life as we know it.

The disruption could just be what the Spurs need to realign the pieces and make a final push toward the playoffs.

“I was hoping, and then usually we do, just go and straighten it out before the playoffs.”- Rudy Gay

If the season does not pick back up, there will be no postseason play and the Spurs will have one more season to surpass the Philadelphia 76ers by making an unprecedented twenty-three season playoff run. That would be the most in any of the major sports.

It would also solidify Gregg Popovich’s stellar career among the best coaches of all time, for any athletic endeavor.

If Rudy believes, then I believe. Do you?
