Open Thread: Poll- Whether or not the Spurs should play on Christmas

Do you miss celebrating the holiday with a nationally televised San Antonio game?

The Spurs are not playing on Christmas Day this year. In fact, they rarely do. In Pop’s 22 seasons, the Spurs have played exactly seven Christmas games for whch they are an abysmal 2-5.

Christmas games are often interesting match-ups. The last finals opponents meeting for the the first time. It’s a great time to send Kevin Durant to Oklahoma City. Or clashing MVP candidates.

It’s often been said the Spurs don’t play the holiday because they are not flashy. They don’t excite fans into taking a break from their holiday routine to sit in front of the tube. They’re boring.

What do you think, Pounders? As a fan of the Spurs, do you want them to play a Christmas Day game? One year I won tickets to see the Spurs and Thunder on Christmas and I couldn’t go because of plans with the family. Oh, well, life gets in the way. Did I say life, or wife?

Enjoy tonight’s Boxing Day match-up between our beloved Spurs and the Denver Nuggets. Game one of the home-to-home this week.
