Open Thread: Beloved Spurs guard Antonio Daniels hosting a basketball camp in San Antonio

Yet another former member of the Silver & Black giving back in the community.

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, my band The Gunslingers was on “Great Day SA” promoting our new music festival. Well, who should enter the studio for his own segment, but Antonio Daniels, a member of the Spurs 1999 Championship team.

Through his family foundation, Daniels is hosting a basketball camp this summer and he and his wife Sonia were on TV promoting it. You can link to “Great Day” here and to the The Daniels Family Foundation here.

If your child is between the ages of 7 and 17, then this might be an event to consider for a their summer health and wellness. Daniels’ camp runs from June 10-14 at Cornerstone Christian School’s Warrior Arena.

I must admit, I was no longer living in San Antonio during Antonio Daniels time, but I have become a fan as my time with Pounding the Rock has led me back through the Spurs’ history.

He spoke so eloquently about Tim Duncan, their relationship, and what San Antonio meant to him. Yet another reminder that I am lucky to be in the city that the greatest basketball team in history calls home.

Sounds of Alamo City takes place on Sunday, June 2nd at Sam’s Burger Joint starting at 2:00 p.m. featuring my band The Gunslingers play at 4:30, River Barons at 3:15, and solo performances by Laura Marie, Sierra Lynn, Larry D. Moralez, and Jeff Jacobs kick off the afternoon.
