Open Thread: A Spurs fan going “all in” on the Milwaukee Bucks

If you watched Game 5, you know they are ready

Game 5 was the the proof that the this Milwaukee team is ready to take the Eastern Conference Finals by storm.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is the NBA MVP. He is absolutely the player who has elevated his team the most in the league this season. His playing speaks for itself. He doesn’t chest pump and antagonize his opponents with posture and attitude.

From a Spurs fan’s perspective, he might be the most Tim Duncan-like player since the GOAT retired. And paired with Coach Bud, the long time assistant to Pop…well, the parallels are pretty obvious.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Bucks operate as a team. There is not one player that doesn’t contribute. Khris Middleton, a player with whom I was less acquainted, has been fun to watch. And what Spurs fan doesn’t love seeing George Hill shine? Every part is working, essential, and ready to be called on in a moment’s notice.

Who will they play, Toronto? Philadelphia? It doesn’t matter. The Raptors are nothing without one player, which leaves the challenge for the Bucks on limiting his contribution.

And Philadelphia is still more combustible than deadly. A 76ers/Bucks Eastern Conference Finals would look more like the series Milwaukee just wrapped up.

So, for this fan, I’ll watch the Western Conference to see who I will be rooting against in the NBA Finals. I’ve picked a team I can get behind…for the next month.

P.S. My Spurs flag is still waving in my front yard. The season is over, the dream is alive.
