NWS issues heat advisory for San Antonio as temperatures are expected to soar to 104 degrees

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for Bexar County and its surrounding counties Wednesday until 7 p.m.

The NWS predicts temperatures will reach 104 degrees with a heat index of 110 degrees.

For San Antonio, NWS meteorologist Monte Oaks said temperatures shouldn’t be more than 105 degrees this week. He does, however, expect another heat advisory to be issued for the area Thursday.

Oaks predicts the triple-digit weather will last until Sunday and said there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms on Monday.

Oaks said temperatures between the 100 to 105 mark typically occur during this time every year. The highest temperature recorded so far this year in San Antonio was 107 on July 13.

The NWS encourages all to stay hydrated and to stay out of the sun if possible. The department also said to take extra precautions if you work outside.
