One San Antonio restaurant is trying to do its part during the coronavirus pandemic by providing free meals to those on the front lines.

Don Adolfo’s Bar and Grill is serving free meals to first responders, healthcare workers, journalists and anyone else who is helping those impacted by the virus, said Don Adolfo’s marketing manager Bibi Montemayor.

“We understand they are putting countless hours to care for others and for this reason, we would like to provide a free meal to these individuals,” Montemayor said. “It is our way of saying thank you and we appreciate everything you are doing.”

Owners Jerry and Arely Almanza said their main focus during the pandemic is to help in whatever way they can.

“We all have to do our part,” Jerry said. “This isn’t the time to worry about making a profit, it is the time to help the community.”

The offer started Thursday and will last for two weeks. The restaurant is giving two free to-go meals per person between noon and 3 p.m. From quesadillas to flautas, customers can expect a variety of meals over the 14-day time period.

Although the Don Adolfo’s staff received a bonus when the restaurant temporarily closed, many returned to volunteer their time to help provide the free meals.

“We are all just here to help out,” Jerry said.

For the free meals, visit Don Aldolfo’s, located at 19141 Stone Oak Parkway, during the pick-up time.
