Lonnie Walker IV named to Summer League Second Team

The Spurs’ second-year stud leaves a lasting impression in Las Vegas.

Lonnie Walker IV was named to the NBA Summer League Second Team today after a pair of breakout performances in Las Vegas last week.

Walker played in just two Las Vegas Summer League games after San Antonio held him out of their final two outings. The second-year shooting guard averaged 30 points, 4 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game.

He also tied Frank Jackson of the New Orleans Pelicans for the league lead in points per game.

Lonnie is the fourth Spur to be named to a Summer League team since the inaugural awards in 2005. He now joins Bryn Forbes (2017), Kyle Anderson (2015) and Alonzo Gee (2010) with this honor.

The University of Miami alumnus turned heads this summer and he’ll look to build upon his performance when preseason play starts this October.

Although an injury forced Walker to spend most of his rookie season with the Austin Spurs, don’t expect him to hang around the G-League affiliate much in 2019-2020. He’s healthy, much improved, and should be a major part of San Antonio’s second-unit.
