Shooting guard Kevin Martin has averaged 20 or more points in six different seasons throughout his career but was on the market after the Minnesota Timberwolves waived him on March 1. That is no longer the case after Saturday’s news.
The timing here is important, as Martin is postseason-eligible because Minnesota waived him on March 1 before the midnight deadline.
It also comes as little surprise another team grabbed him so quickly. Stein reported Friday the Spurs weren’t the only club interested in Martin’s services.
