Kawhi Leonard sets an NBA win percentage record

No player has more wins through 400 games than The Klaw.

The Spurs may have taken a loss in the Toyota Center Friday night, but now Kawhi Leonard’s all time record sits at 306-94 through his first 400 games. That is the best all-time record for the first 400 games in NBA history.

While Kawhi is a superstar and was considered by many to be the forefront contender for MVP before the season began, it’s fair to recognize his record as a reflection of being a member of a Spurs team that featured Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker.

In the same vein, Danny Ainge’s 302-98 record can be attributed to his role on the 1980’s Celtics whose combination of Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, and Robert Parrish while A.C. Green was a member of the 1987-88 Lakers who featured Magic Johnson, James Worthy, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

So the record is both a representation of the player and the team who drafted him, and Kawhi has surpassed both Ainge and Green with a statistic that might stand another two decades.

The Thread is up and running. We can keep sharing about Kawhi’s return, his 110th consecutive double-digit scoring game, or anything else on your mind today.

There was indeed a game last night. Talk about it if that’s your sort of thing.
