Inter Miami ‘ready to hijack David Silva’s move to New York City’

David Beckham‘s ambitious new MLS franchise Inter Miami are reportedly pulling out all the stops to make a bid to sign David Silva this summer.

The legendary Spanish star is set to leave Manchester City at the end of the current Premier League season, and looks set to be the next biggest name to appear in Major League Soccer.

Silva had been courting the attention of City’s partner club in the States, New York City FC, but now Beckham-led Inter Miami are looking to pull off a major coup, as reported by the Mirror.

Beckham is a huge admirer of the midfielder and is said to be willing to make Silva one of the best-paid players in the league.

Inter Miami have lost their first two games in their debut MLS season so far, and take on Beckham’s old side LA Galaxy on Saturday.

The newly formed club hold lofty ambitions, and have also been linked with a huge move for Real Madrid’s Luka Modric.

Beckham is set to raid his former club in La Liga, with Madrid understood to be allowing Modric – who has a year remaining on his current deal – to make his own call on the situation.

Silva, now 34, is still at the top of his game and has made 19 appearances in the Premier League this season, scoring three goals and providing seven assists.

The former Valencia man has won every trophy possible during his time with City, except the Champions League.

Silva and his team-mates remain on course to progress to the last eight of the competition, having pulled off a remarkable 2-1 first leg victory against Real Madrid in Spain.
