The Spurs return the the AT&T Center to face their Eastern Conference mirror image

Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.

Blowing a big lead against the Rockets was disappointing, but there were some bright spots in Monday’s loss. The Spurs kept James Harden under control for most of the game, and an uncharacteristically efficient game from Russell Westbrook gave the Rockets just enough push to take advantage the Spurs inability to score in the clutch. Dejounte Murray is developing as a leader, and nobody is going to question his toughness, but the Spurs need to stop their habit of only playing well for about half a game at a time. Tonight, they face the Brooklyn Nets, who are without the services of Kyrie Irving, who has always had big nights against the Spurs, tonight. This is likely a rebuilding year for them, as they await Kevin Durant’s return from injury, but they have plenty of talent to give the Spurs fits. Hopefully, Pop will give Lonnie Walker IV plenty of run tonight, and it will be a learning experience for the Spurs’ new young core. Go SPURS GooOOOoo!!
