Game Thread: San Antonio Spurs at New Orleans Pelicans

The Spurs need consistent effort to move toward playoff contention

Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.

The New Orleans Pelicans are one of the teams at the tail of the Western Conference that have a lot of talent and youth and are starting to put it together for a playoff run. The Spurs faced a team in the same circumstances on Monday, and barely escaped with a win over Devin Booker and the Suns. Tonight, the Silver and Black face Jrue Holiday, Brandon Ingram and the Pelicans, who have been sneaking up on respectability along with the Spurs. For some reason, the national press is really hyping up tonight’s game, much more than you’d expect for a normal game between the 9th and 11th place teams in the middle of the season. It it because of Lonnie Walker IV’s shoes? Oh, yeah, the Pelican rookie Zion Williamson is going to play tonight in his first game of the season, but that doesn’t seem like that big of a deal. It’s gotta be the shoes. Go SPURS GooOOOoo!!
