Construction set to close Texas 151 on far West Side in both directions this weekend

San Antonio drivers can expect delays on the West Side this weekend.

Construction work on Texas 151 will close the entire highway in both directions at Loop 410, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

“The closures are expected to greatly impact traffic flow and drivers are encouraged to avoid the area,” the agency said in a statement.

The closures, allowing crews to install steel beams for flyover ramps at the interchange, will close the highway’s mainlanes from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday

Drivers traveling westbound on Texas 151 will be detoured to the frontage roads at the Loop 410 exit. They’ll travel through the intersection and re-enter the mainlanes before Ingram Road.

Drivers traveling eastbound on Texas 151 will be detoured to the frontage roads at Cable Ranch Road. They’ll travel through the Loop 410 intersection and re-enter the mainlanes before W. Military Drive.

The flyover ramp connecting the eastbound lanes of Texas 151 to the northbound lanes of Loop 410 will remain open.

This weekend’s construction is part of a $100 million project aimed at improving mobility and safety along a 14.9 mile stretch of Loop 410. Work began in 2019 and is scheduled to finish by the summer of 2022.
