Coach Pop Contemplated Retiring Last Season.

In a shocking statement by former Spurs head coach Larry Brown, who said that Greg Popovich nearly retired last season due to a heart condition. Larry Brown is a close friend of Greg Popovich and was quoted as saying “His hip surgery had gone well, but there was a hiccup with a heart condition that was not unlike the atrial fibrillation that (former Spurs center) Fab Oberto had. Popovich underwent a procedure, and, after he had done everything the doctors had asked, palpitations returned.” This medical condition occurred during the Spurs pre-season tour of Europe last season. This is the reason Coach Pop missed two games in late November as he under went a second procedure to correct his irregular heart beat. Although Coach Pop contemplated retiring last season due to health reasons. He is no doubt looking forward to coaching the Spurs this season as they begin the “Race For Seis”.  Coach Pop has a contract through 2019 and if he stays healthy will fulfill his commitment to the team. Coach Pop is a huge reason the Spurs are now the model franchise in all of professional sports. It will be a sad day when our general calls it quits as finding a replacement will be next to impossible. Here’s to one more run at history with the best coach in the NBA leading the charge and that would be Greg Popovich.
