City Lead Chelsea In Pursuit Of Germany Under 16 Skipper

Manchester City have moved ahead of Chelsea in the race for Borussia Dortmund defender Nnamdi Collins, according to reports in the German media.

The teenager is one of the most promising young talents in Germany, having been named captain of the national team at Under 16 level.

Collins has yet to make his senior debut, and he is currently playing for Dortmund’s Under 17 side, having made 20 appearances in the U17 Bundesliga West division so far this campaign.

The 16-year-old moved from Fortuna Dusseldorf’s youth academy in 2016, but with his contract expiring in 2021, it looks as though City are looking to snap up the youngster.

Collins is a centre-back by trade and if he does make the switch to the Etihad Stadium, he’ll be hoping to move up the ranks pretty quickly. However, the German will be competing with the likes of Eric Garcia and Taylor Harwood-Ellis who are also eyeing first-team opportunities in City’s back four.
