Chelsea keen on ‘Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz, Jadon Sancho and Timo Werner’

Roman Abramovich is prepared to back Frank Lampard in the next transfer window so he can take advantage of what could be a cut-price market in the coronavirus era.

Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell has been a long-term target of Lampard’s while, according to The Athletic, Chelsea have also drawn up a shortlist of attacking talent in the Bundesliga as they look to make two landmark signings.

That includes Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz, Borussia Dortmund‘s Jadon Sancho and RB Leipzig’s in-demand frontman Timo Werner, while a move for Moussa Dembele at French side Lyon could emerge.

Chilwell, though, is Lampard’s main target. A fee of £85m was mooted earlier this year but Chelsea are hopeful that he will be cheaper in the current financial climate.

And with Willian and Pedro expected to leave in the summer, Lampardn also wants to bolster his attacking ranks.

Leverkusen’s Havertz, 20, is one of the most coveted talents in Europe and an array of elite clubs across the continent are watching him. The pursuit of his signature could be one of the major transfer tales of the next window.

Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool also have an interest in Dortmund and England attacker Sancho, who is expected to be available for a move if an offer of £100m comes in.

Werner, meanwhile, is said to have his heart set on a move to Liverpool but there are growing questions over whether Jurgen Klopp’s side are prepared to make a bid in the region of the £50m fee that Leipzig are demanding.

That could pave the way for another club to take advantage. The Athletic say Abramovich is prepared to sanction the right deals and on top of that, Chelsea could be well set financially in the next transfer market.

They have not spent for the last two windows, one of which was due to a transfer ban.

Chelsea are anticipating some further instalments in the deal that took Eden Hazard to Real Madrid, while Alvaro Morata’s loan to Atletico Madrid is set to turn permanent for a fee in the region of £48m.

They have, however, already moved to sign Ajax attacker Hakim Ziyech in a deal worth around £33m. That transfer was announced in February.
