Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has this evening heaped praise on Billy Gimour, on the back of the youngster’s latest stellar display.

Chelsea on song

Lampard’s men welcomed Everton to Stamford Bridge this afternoon, for a Premier League clash.

The Blues headed into proceedings aware that nothing but 3 points would do, with in-form Manchester United breathing down their necks for 4th-place in the English top-flight table.

Chelsea, though, were no doubt full of confidence ahead of kick-off, having ousted Liverpool from the FA Cup on Tuesday evening to book their spot in the competition’s quarter-finals.

And, when all was said and done, the capital outfit’s resurgence continued, in spectacular fashion.

Another superb showing on Chelsea’s part eventually saw the Pensioners thump Everton by 4 goals to nil.

Mason Mount, Pedro Rodriguez, Willian and Olivier Giroud were all on target inside the opening 55 minutes, as the hosts made short work of Carlo Ancelotti’s shell-shocked Toffees.

‘Billy has it’

While, evidently based on the scoreline, a number of Chelsea’s attacking stars were on form, no player on the pitch was more impressive over the course of the 90 minutes this afternoon than Billy Gimour.

On the back of his dazzling display versus Liverpool during the week, Gimour was handed the chance to impress again versus Everton.

And to say that the Scottish teenager went on to take full advantage of his opportunity would be putting it lightly.

Gimour absolutely ran the show at Stamford Bridge, controlling the tempo from his deep-lying midfield berth to eventually bag his 2nd-straight Man of the Match award:

And, as outlined above, the 18-year-old’s manager, Frank Lampard, has since unsurprisingly been full of praise for Gilmour.

Speaking in a post-match interview this evening, Lampard was drawn on the latest performance of his side’s crown jewel, with the Chelsea boss having highlighted the ‘confidence’ and ‘balls’ showcased by Gilmour, before likening the teen to fellow Blues midfielder Jorginho:

‘He’s receiving the ball in difficult areas on the pitch where if you don’t move it quickly, firstly you don’t get the rhythm of our play, it breaks down for you, secondly if you give it away in those areas it’s dangerous.’

‘So you need confidence, you need balls to do that. And Jorginho has it, and Billy has it.’
