Barcelona ‘will put Antoine Griezmann up for sale this summer just a YEAR after his £108m move’

Barcelona are set to put Antoine Griezmann up for sale after less than a year at the club, according to reports in Spain.

The Frenchman joined the Catalan giants from Atletico Madrid after his £108million (120 million euros) release clause was triggered.

But Griezmann’s adaptation to the club and performances for Quique Setien’s side have not gone as planned, netting just 14 times in 37 matches so far this season.

And Diario Sport claim that Barcelona are now willing to listen to offers of more than £92m (100 million euros) for the Frenchman in order to reinvest in other star players.

The club are hopeful of overhauling the squad in the summer despite the outbreak of the coronavirus, but will need to sell first-team players if plans to re-sign Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar and Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez are to come to fruition.

And the report claims that Griezmann would spike the interest of Europe’s other elite clubs, including PSG, Manchester United and Chelsea.

The news comes after Sportsmail revealed on Saturday the club will need their high-earning players to make wage sacrifices if they are to avoid financial meltdown because of the economic impact of the coronavirus.

Only Lionel Messi’s weekly £500,000 per-week wage is higher than Griezmann’s at the club, with the Frenchman earning a weekly salary of £294,000.
